I know this is a total shock but we went on another boat party. I know, I know, I know. I obviously don’t like them, they’re obviously no fun, but it was our girlfriend’s birthday so we sucked it up and went anyways.
Jkjkjkjk, they’re amazing and they don’t get old. This time we went on The Island. It’s a little barge that’s been souped-up with nautical vibes, a bar and most importantly a dance floor. The Island is a bit different than the other boat parties, as it’s stationary so the whole thing feels like a floating bar.
You start on the wharf in Rose Bay and sip champagne at the club there until your private ferry arrives. Once you hop aboard, it’s a short 10 minute ride past all of the beautiful harbor front homes and the nice guys on the boat tie you up next to the Island and help you off the ferry.
You’re greeted by pretty ladies handing out pink fruity cocktails and ushered into the main area. The bar serves bottles of rosé, champagne and whole coconuts (with a shot of rum in them, of course). There’s a small grill serving up kebabs and burgers for when you get hungry and the beats are Euro beach club meets Top 20 remixes.
On a sunny day, the setting is beautiful with a sweeping view of the Sydney skyline and clear blue water bobbing all around you. This time, it was a rainy, chilly day, which was surprisingly fun because all of The Island is covered, so we danced the day away with pouring down rain on all sides of us and the faint outline of the Opera House and Sydney Bridge in the distance.
I promise I’ll stop blogging about boat parties soon… when the summer is over 😉
