*Life Hack* If you move from New York City at the end of summer to the opposite hemisphere you just skip over winter entirely!
#NoMoreWinter is a movement I am fully invested in. I am opting out of winter until further notice. I will make exceptions for skiing in Japan and New Zealand (anyone? anyone?), but that’s it.
Which is great because Sydney doesn’t get a “real” winter anyways. It gets cold in the sense that the sun goes down, you’re only wearing a swimsuit and jean shorts because you’ve just come off the beach, and it’s a tad windy, so you throw a sweatshirt on. But that’s been about it so far.
So it is technically mid-“spring” here now, but it’s a different spring than the northeast.
Since spring is all about flower power, we shimmied down to The Grounds of Alexandria. It’s half garden, half restaurant, and has about a billion and one plants/flowers/etc/etc. It’s a pretty cool place to wander around alleyways surrounded by ivy, grab a bite to eat, and shop for your favorite flowers (hint: sunflowers). And, of course, there’s no shortage of spring photo ops.
I can’t speak to the food, as we pregamed with fresh coconuts and avocado toast at Harry’s in North Bondi, then postgamed with watermelon cake, honey almond croissants and fresh squeezed watermelon juice at Black Star Pastry. But the rest of it is Fossypants approved.
