When I was finishing up my college career at Texas, we had only just begun to branch out from 6th Street and brush the watering holes of Rainey Street. “East 6th” was still a reference to the college-y side of 6th street and had not yet been extended to the actual East Side of Austin, which at the time was still a part of town parents would not have wanted their kids venturing to.
Now, however, the East Side is THE trendy place to eat/drink/dance in Austin and is home to many of SXSW’s events. This event was thrown by PREMO, a video streaming app, who was running a happy hour all week at Whistler’s which we were all too happy to take full advantage of.
After a few bands and (quite) a few cocktails, the sun began to set into one of those famous Texas sunsets I miss so much and we headed to WeWork‘s party downtown, complete with a dance floor, photo booth, booze, and BOXES of pizza (hallelujah –
we were I was a very hangry camper).
The rest of the evening was spent watching band after band at the Capital and dancing the night away (this seems to be a trend). The last day of SXSW included the usual suspects – BBQ, tacos, music and grooving – but I’ll save that for tomorrow.
