It’s no secret I’m one of Austin’s biggest fans. I get down there whenever I can (or work wants me to – I’m never one to complain about trips to the Lone Star State!).
There’s no bad time to visit Austin, but the best time on Rainey Street is in the verrrry, super-duper beginning of Spring. Just warm enough to sit outside in flannels, but not as packed as football season.
It might be considered the middle of winter in the rest of the world, but spring starts to poke its head around the corner justttttt towards the end of January in Austin (if you’re lucky).
This is not the first time I’ve mentioned Rainey Street. It’s one of my favorite parts of Austin and certainly my favorite place to have a beer outside on a Saturday. Rainey is made up of a bunch of old, carved out homes that were transitioned into watering holes and now dot either side of the most charming street of bars in Austin.
I know what you’re thinking – but what about 6th Street?!?! 6th Street has it’s merits, but ‘charming’ is not one of them. It loses some of its wonder when the sun comes up (though that doesn’t mean I love it any less).
I met some friends down at one of my favorites – Bar 96 – for tacos, beers and some giggles after I finished up my event for work.
PS – Sorry if you’ve missed me! I’ve missed you. I had a bit of medical hiccup while I was out west last week and was out of commission for a while. But never fear, I’m alive and well and promise to be a better blogger from here on out! Xoxo.
