We kicked off our last day in Miami at the Delano hotel (have I mentioned I have a thing for the hotels in Miami?). When our breakfast efforts were thwarted, we walked around the beautiful grounds of the hotel and then walked next door to the SLS for some stage five hangover food.
We started the day in Struggle City, USA, but breakfast had us feeling good so we headed down to the beach for some fun in the (kind of) sun before heading to the Mondrian Hotel.
I looooooooooooove the Mondrian in LA. It’s my west coast home base, but I’ve never met a Mondrian I didn’t like. We had called to confirm that one of the leftover exhibitions from Art Basel was still housed there and were very excited that we made it on its last day.
After stopping by the bar for fresh coconut waters (healthy!!) with a shot of rum (Pretty sure they cancel each other out!!!) we were ready to get artsy. What is this amazing piece of art you ask?? A pool topped with 40,000 ping pong balls, of course.
It was the most fun art exhibition to date and I’m now confused as to why all pools don’t have a heavy layer of ping pong balls piled on them.
We wrapped up the trip with our last pina coladas, sipped from a hammock with a terrible view…
Miami was fantastic and it was such an easy trip to make from NYC. If you’re interested in planning a trip (you should be), here’s our itinerary:
Where we ate: Driftwood, The Standard, SLS Hotel
Where we drank: Broken Shaker, The Wall, Story, Hyde Beach Club, LIV, Mokai
Where we slept: AirBnB has great options in the heart of Miami, but you can’t go wrong with any of the hotels listed below…
Where we played: The Fountainblue Hotel, The Standard Hotel, The Delano, The Mondrian
If the wind chill is < 20 degrees, book a flight 😉
