Miami was about as spontaneous as a trip can get. Plans for a weekend of skiing didn’t work out and the forecast for NYC was looking chilly… So when things went south, we went south.
We booked our flights Sunday evening and by Friday afternoon Austin and I were on a flight to the land of Mr. 305. Bonnie decided she was also in need of a weekend in the sun and flew down to meet us, so the three musketeers were all accounted for.
We kicked the weekend off at the new SLS hotel’s restaurant, Driftwood, and started with a couple rounds of cocktails (shocking, I know).
We were all over the map menu-wise, but the oysters, mussels, and décor were definitely the winners.
The SLS, like every other swanky hotel in Miami, is awesome, so we went exploring for a bit to walk off dinner.
Two of my good friends I met in St. Barth’s live in Miami and told us to head to Broken Shaker for some more drinks until they finished up a wedding . Broken Shaker was really cool – It’s part hotel, part laid back bar, so the entire place is outside, centered around the pool, and framed by palm trees – good vibes only.
Next stop was the W Hotel’s bar, where we met up with our friends for a few drinks. They headed to their wedding reception and we headed to the W’s club, Wall, to start our cardio for the night. We made a couple of friends at Wall that informed us Zedd was playing at Story – one of the big Vegas-style clubs in Miami. We tagged along to Story and were unexpectedly swept to the VIP section behind the DJ booth. We sang and danced with Zedd until we hit our 10,000 steps (probably more) and the sun began to come up… Not bad for the first night!
I’ll save where we lounged, pool partied, and ate on Day 2 for tomorrow. Happy Tuesday!
