Greenwich Project is a restaurant that gets all the hype for its brunch – which I hold near and dear to my heart – but their lesser known dinner menu also happens to be more than worth a stop.
Located in the heart of the Village, it’s pretty accessible from just about anywhere. It’s a local favorite, a dining destination, and checks every box on my restaurant checklist – great drinks, great food, and a great atmosphere. Let’s get on with the show…
As mentioned, they have a solid cocktail menu… my favorite is the Pawnee, but if you like Mezcal, The Great Smoky should be your go to choice.
Along with drinks, your waiter will dodge your hangry attitude with complimentary jalapeño biscuits and garlic butter (!!!!!).
Then you should start with the crispy brussel sprouts, topped with horseradish sour cream…
… and the tuna tartar. Both of which are awesome.
Among other mains, the winners are the roasted garlic chicken and butternut squash risotto (I’m telling you I’m developing a serious thing for butternut squash, just in time for Valentines Day – hint, hint).
There is nothing on GP’s menu that isn’t good. We didn’t do a huge seafood haul this time, but their raw bar is to die for. Do yourself a favor and make the trip, then pop over to Comedy Cellar (make reservations a couple days in advance here) for some laughs or The Happiest Hour for a few more rounds.
You can find Greenwich Project at 47 West 8th Street. Make a reservation here before you swing by as it’s a small place (the top floor is usually reserved for events).
