There is nothing I love more than the hustle and bustle of New York City. You can feel the energy no matter where you go and there is no better time to wander the streets than 5:30pm on a weekday.
There are men in suits strutting down the sidewalk shouting into their phones. There are dogs – big and small – walking the street without a care in the world, thrilled to be back with their human. There are children, bikers, babies, happy hours, cabs, cars, trucks, subways. You name it.
The sun is on it’s journey down to the horizon and if you pause in the middle of the right street, you can see all the way up or downtown, lined by hundreds of buildings that are filled with a million people, living a million different lives, thinking ten million different thoughts. I love that time of day.
BUT every once and a while, it’s nice to rent a car, pick up a fast food breakfast (we now have Chick-fil-a in NYC, praise the lawd for chicken minis!), and get the F out of town. So that’s just what we did for a few hours.
After a couple hours at the beach, we were back in the city by 1pm, just in time for a jog on Manhattan’s west side and brunch at Bubby’s in TriBeCa (ps, if you haven’t been, Bubby’s is “holy sh*t” good).
