The Italian restaurants are at the top of every list, and best of all, they’re all in our backyard in the East Village. When people need dinner/date/parent visit suggestions in EV, I always go with Frank. It is by far one of my favorite restaurants in New York… I promise to snap it the next time I eat there (bad blogger). But Lil’ Frankie’s has a lesser known brunch menu that deserves just as much attention.
And their breakfast sandwich deserves the red carpet.
We popped in last Sunday when Meg and Allie were in town for SantaCon. Much to our satisfaction, Saturday’s weather had carried over and it was 72 (!!!!!) and sunny so we strolled down from my apartment and settled in.
Bacon, egg and cheese may not sound too fancy… but I don’t throw around “best breakfast sandwich” that often. It. Is. Gooooood.
This is a well kept secret, but if you participate in their 3-4-1 drink special, it somehow gets even better.
If breakfast sandwiches aren’t your jam… I don’t know if I trust you… But they do have other awesome brunch options on the menu, including but not limited to, Molly’s french toast and all of the Eggs Benedict’s. Getting a side of their hash browns is a must – I don’t know how they make them, but I’m pretty sure they’re moderately addictive.
Polish it all off with your third mimosa and you have yourself a Sunday.
Lil’ Frankie’s is at 1st and 1st (19 1st Ave). We’ve never had trouble getting a table on Sunday mornings, but I can’t speak for Saturday’s (might be worth putting in a reservation). Make sure you stop by an ATM on the way – all of the Frank restaurants are cash only.
